change of address + the giveaway winner

Do you ever get Super Woman Syndrome? I definitely had a case of it this past week. Thoughts were shooting through my skull, including such special gems as:

“Of COURSE I can pack all my belongings, pick up my mother from the airport, meet with coaching clients, get the CSA, cook, work, and schedule some blog posts today! I AM SUPERWOMAN!”

Then I passed out, exhausted, approximately two tasks completed. You may notice which of them I did not cross off my list (hint: Mom is here).

And the list(s) keep getting longer. We’ve painted (the first coat), the appliances are here, our stuff is all moved in (as of today) and the apartment is clean. We’ve done a plumbing project, hung shower curtain rods and window treatments, and spent an inordinate amount of time shopping.

But we’re homeowners! We’ve got a garage, a canyon view, a kitchen I love, and ants.

Once I find and unpack all the food and pans, I can’t wait to start cooking (and blogging) again. Oh, and you guys are going to love the kitchen photos once the boxes aren’t stacked everywhere.

Thank you to everyone who entered my Halcyon Tea giveaway! It’s fun to see what tea everyone likes.

And the winners, thanks to the magic of random number generation, are… Debbie and Katie! Once I find the prizes (they’re in a box) your tea will be on its way with some other goodies, too.

Do you own a house? What’s the best and worst part of homeownership? If you don’t own a house, do you want to?

I’m excited to have the house in a photo-worthy state. =)

Congrats on the move! I’m so tired of living in an apartment, especially one with no natural light in my kitchen!! Two more years, then hopefully, a HOUSE.

Thank you! The kitchen lighting was definitely a factor in our house hunt. Tonight I’m even hoping to cook!

Congrats, two tasks out of seven isn’t bad! :) Today is my super woman day: run, clean for company, cook for a blog post (lunch), cook for company (dinner), pack for a round-the-world trip (which starts tomorrow morning) and schedule the rest of the month’s blog posts. Goodness!

I am keen to see your new house, when you are settled, of course. We own a flat in London that we bought just before moving here; now we are tenants again.

Thanks, Sarah! Ooh, I can’t wait to hear about your trip. It’s been too long since we traveled just for fun — we’re thinking about a trip this fall.

Congrats!!! We are homeowners and the pros (as opposed to renting an apartment) are yard space, storage, designated rooms for whatever you want/need. making it your own signature space and building memories. working on home projects together. Cons – things going wrong and having to diagnose/troubleshoot it and then getting it fixed. any problems with the property are yours to keep forever. taking care of lawn, pest control, alarm system, :) homeownership is overrated and can be a pain but I love living in our house. I wouldn’t change anything. I know you will enjoy your home and making it yours. :) Congrats again!

Thanks, Amee! Good points. It’s so nice not having “apartment white” walls. It’s less-nice having to deal with plumbing problems.

Thank you! I’m hoping it’s in photo-ready shape soon. My poor kitchen is half awesome, half paint shop right now.

The BEST part of home ownership? Having free reign to do what I please… like putting in a chicken coop and not caring what the landlord would think. The WORSE part… maintaining my own yard. All 15,000 sq. ft. of it.

The to-do list never ends!

We do not have 15,000 sq. ft. for sure! Just enough to squeeze on some chickens and a few raised beds. =)

And you have a Garden Paradise!
