csa share 12/01/11

It was wonderful to have my family here for Thanksgiving, but it was a new experience to have everyone stay with us. Our large CSA box is usually more than enough food, but we stocked up at the farmers market several times with company in town. It was fun, though, and I had an excuse to explore new-to-me markets and see the farmers market experience through fresh eyes.

After feeding a crowd, I’m looking forward to the simplicity of green smoothies, easy salads, and roasted veggies for myself.

Even I get a little tired of hardy greens by the end of winter, but I love the shoulder season selections of arugula, a variety of lettuces, and tender spinach. And snap peas? Anytime, please.

Do you take a vacation from eating healthy over the holidays?

I get my CSA share today (winter version) and I am so excited to get greens! I hardly buy lettuce or greens from the grocery store anymore; my CSA greens have totally spoiled me.

I eat about the same throughout the year, holidays or no. I might actually eat a little better during the holidays because they force me to slow down, and allow me to sit down to eat because family step in to help with my kids. Isn’t that weird?

I’ve had to supplement our greens because I’ve been doing green smoothies, but in planning our garden now that we have a yard, I’m going to grow greens so we should have enough!

That’s ironic, but awesome. I know my sister said she was most excited for “grandparents” over the holidays.

Mhmm. Our CSA used to be a wheatgrass and sprouts farm, so we get “bonus” items from SunGrown in our shares. This week was sunflower greens. So good!

That looks tasty!

Hi Stacy…. I would say out of all the greens you have pictures of the spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and turnips are my favorites. I’m happy things went well with your family, I know how I feel to get back to my regular routine… πŸ˜‰

Thanks, Kim! You can come over anytime since the Veggie-Hating Husband barely tolerates any of those. πŸ˜‰
