Work has been a little overwhelming and crazy, so I haven’t posted much. My garden is still growing, though!
Today’s highlights:
Sprouting lettuce seeds! It’s technically late to start lettuce which doesn’t appreciate hot weather, but I had to get my act together before planting them, so this is when they are sprouting. It’s a mix of lettuce seeds, so I can harvest them as micro-greens if need be!
That’s a teeny tiny red bell pepper! There are several amongst my pepper plants, and the jalapeno is plugging along, too.
Gratuitous flower photo. They may not be delicious, but they are bright and cheery! I might snip a few to bring inside.
Now if only my tomatoes would start turning red….

I bought a packet of heat-resistant lettuce seed (it’s germinating on top of my dryer right now); I’ll let you know if it works out. (Since the daily high here is already averaging 90 or so, it should be an interesting experiment.) I really hope that it works out since I’ve grown so dependent on lettuce from my garden.
We’re topping out at an even 80 degrees this week, and we had an overnight low of 45 a few days ago (my mom turned her heat on). Maybe I am worrying too early, which makes me feel much better.
Into July and August it gets pretty toasty, though, so I will look forward to your update! It seems more reasonable to grow since my husband doesn’t like salads anyway.
