My dad was in town to visit for a few days. It was generally nice out so we tried to spend time outside. I haven’t gone through all my photos yet, but here are a handful of highlights from the weekend.
My usual breakfast is poached eggs and a slice of whole wheat toast. On a whim I made it “California-style” by adding avocado and a bare sprinkle of salt. Who knew I could be brilliant before I had my first cup of coffee?
We’re not going to make it out to see the desert bloom this spring, but Dad and I got a nice view of Coronado Island and the San Diego harbor from Cabrillo National Monument. More photos to come.
Yesterday we took a trip to Balboa Park, home to a multitude of museums and activities. Across the street is a rose garden, currently in riotous bloom. It smells amazing. I’m not exaggerating when I say I took over 100 photos there.
There was also a used book sale going on and I scored this bad boy for a whopping 50 cents. If you want to get technical, I didn’t bring my purse and Dad had to buy it, so it was actually “free” for me. Thanks, Dad!
Along with photo editing, I have a few kitchen projects (some cooking, some not) and a write up of the two most recent episodes of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. But first I’m going for a walk on the beach with a friend.

Looks like a beautiful weekend! Also, love how adding avocado to anything makes it “California style”.
Sprouts would have been even more so, but I was out.
I may be eating avocado on toast for breakfast tomorrow. Thanks for inspiring my belly
