Every April, my husband and I make it a point to go out for dinner. The occasion? Dining Out For Life. This year, the event is taking place in cities all over the country on April 30 (though a few places are different! Check the website).
The premise is simple: Diners eat at a participating restaurant of their choice which chooses a level (bronze 15%, silver 20%, gold 25% or platinum 35%+) of proceeds to donate to AIDS charities in the area. The charity in Minneapolis is The Aliveness Project which provides services to Minnesotans living with HIV/AIDS.
We try to select a platinum level restaurant that we have never been to before! This year should be fun because we are going with four other friends (up that bill!) to the Modern Cafe. They are donating 35% of lunch and dinner bills to the Aliveness Project. They don’t take reservations, so hopefully we can get in all right.
You can also donate additional money there, or volunteer to help out! His fraternity used to volunteer at the event when he was in college, which is why we started going. Hope to hear from some other people who participate!
