Are you one of those ambitious people who participates in NaNoWriMo – National Novel Writing Month? The goal is to write 50,000 words in the month of November with the result of a novel (or a good hunk of one) by the end.
I am not. Instead, I am participating for a second year in NaBloPoMo, or National Blog Posting Month. Starting today I will post (at least) once every day through the end of November. I did this last year on my old personal blog and it was a good challenge for me that really pushed me to be more creative and come up with new content.
Can I promise that I won’t end up sacrificing some quality for quantity at any point? Nope. In my experience, there will be a day or two when I have nothing exciting to post but will slap something together anyway. Sorry.
But in lieu of quality, I will be hosting my first giveaway (ooooh!), lots of recipes, some photos, and hopefully some good links, too. I hope you enjoy reading along and add your comments along the way!
If you are interested in other participants, the November 2009 NaBloPoMo blogroll is found here. The blogroll is a little bit like the Fringe Festival: you’re choosing based on name and self-selected genre which may have little connection to the actual quality of your choice. It’s a crap shoot. I am pondering doing the dirty work for you and choosing a few each week to highlight/link to, but we’ll see if that pans out. I tried to find one for today and gave up after checking 3 blogs.
So here goes NaBloPoMo 2009!

Nanowrimo only requires 50,000 words total, or 1666.667 words a day.
Ok fine, I didn’t look it up. I have edited the entry to reflect the NaNoWriMo link and correct information.
This is awesome; I had no idea. I think I’m going to have to try it out.
They do an optional theme every month, but November has the biggest participation. Sometimes it feels a little bit like homework, but I think it’s a good exercise and makes me work a little harder. =)
Absolutely beautiful site. Looking forward to watching your progress during NaBloPoMo!
Hi Jenny, thanks for stopping by! I popped over to your site quick, then came back to reply, because it looks like I will be spending the next while visiting you. You had me at the egg background image. <3
I came by via NaBloPoMo – nice to meet you! I never thought I had a thing to say and now I’ve had a blog for a few years and I talk daily – but still I can’t imagine writing a novel. Blogging is my cup of tea
Enjoy!

Hi Kristin! Thanks for visiting. =)
I can’t imagine writing a novel, either. I salute those who get through NaNoWriMo, however!
