If you’re looking for a new food to try for
might I recommend this recipe which contains eggplant?
I actually had a few options to post for this week, but ended up with…
Reed avocados. I couldn’t find anything to add to the photo for scale, but this seemingly-normal avocado weighs in at 14.75 ounces — and was the smaller of the two avocados we got.
There’s another variety we tried this winter called the Bacon avocado which was less dense than the more-common Hass, but in a more watery way. The Reed avocado has a bit lighter texture and less-assertive flavor, but in a good way.
I just finished eating a slab of it on my toast this morning and look forward to incorporating the rest into some dishes this weekend.
What new food did you try this week?

I stuck to my plan and tried millet! I made some broccoli and millet croquettes from the Veganomicon. I thought I boiled the heck out of the millet, but apparently not enough so the croquettes crumbled, but it was still a delicious meal. And Loki ate it, so that’s a plus.
Hooray! My belief is that deliciousness wins over appearance as far as dinner is concerned. =)
Wow, those things must fall off the tree!
I had to take pictures quickly this morning or I would have tried to put something nearby for scale. Maybe this weekend I’ll have some free time and daylight intersect. They’re pretty hefty, though!
This is deffinately my favourite type of avocado, they never seem to have as many stringy bits or as much broosing.

I had another slice on a sandwich for lunch and it held up well without being under-ripe. Now I’m just worried about finishing the first one before the second one gets soft!
Ooh, toast + avocado + salt is one of my favorite combinations ever!
