More veggies already!
These are shelling beans! Tiger’s Eye beans, in fact. The yellow ones popped right out of a somewhat-dry pod, so I decided to prep the rest while I was at it.
Aren’t they pretty? I have a few ideas for what I might do with them.
This is more micro basil — I generally just toss it into salads for extra flavor or use it as garnish on pasta dishes.
I’m not linking recipes this week since I don’t think I have a ton of specific ones, though I am pretty sure that onions are an ingredient in the majority of savory dishes I cook. I’ll work on figuring some stuff out and getting it posted soon!
I’m pretty sure this is our last pint of strawberries, too. I know a ton of Midwestern CSA shares are just starting. What’s in your share this week?

What’s in my share…
Our first box from Harmony Valley Farms (near Viroqua, WI, in SW Wisconsin) came on 5/13…I’m on the every-other-week plan so we didn’t get a box this week. Last week, though, we got scallions, garlic scapes, spinach/greens mix, yukina savoy, bok choi, green and purple kohlrabi, green leaf lettuce, five pints of strawberries (!!!); I also get a pound of coffee with each box, roasted at Kickapoo Coffee, and once a month I get cheese from dairies nearby Viroqua too (last week we got Otter Creek’s Spring Cheddar, Cedar Grove’s Mozzarella, and PastureLand Cooperative’s Sogn).

Suzie’s! Hey is you are every interested, you should come hang out with San Diego Roots! We have farm days down at Suzie’s. We’re prepping for our educational farm center. There’s more information on the Roots website sandiegoroots.org. Also on 6/26 we’re having a ceremonial seed planting featuring tapas prepared with local food made by local restaurants. It’ll be fun so you should come on out!
