some quick (local) hits

by Stacy

Oh hi, remember back in the day when I wrote and posted things here? Me too.

Let me live vicariously through you! Here are two local events I am unable to attend because of work but would love to go were I available.

  • The First Annual Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center Fundraiser is October 1-3 featuring Chef Ann Cooper (the “Renegade Lunch Lady”) involves a conference, fundraiser dinner with produce from our CSA, and a family picnic to support childhood nutrition.
  • It’s San Diego Restaurant Week through Friday, September 24. Over 180 San Diego restaurants participate by offering a 3-course prix fixe tasting menu for just $20, $30, or $40. We ate at Jsix on Monday night with friends and had a lovely time.

We picked Jsix because they source local, seasonal produce. Check out this article from the Union-Tribune about just that topic.

We’re moving next week to a new neighborhood — one with stuff in it. What’s your favorite place in North Park or University Heights? I’m looking forward to the farmer’s market.

Also, rumor has it that someone might be getting a bicycle for her upcoming birthday which would be fun.

What events are you looking forward to in your community?
Do you have a bike, and if so, where do you ride it?
